Which program is right for me?

VRCE will train you to help animals by supporting pet parents and client care teams as a veterinary receptionist.

IVAP will provide you with in-depth knowledge as a veterinary assistant to help animals with better patient care.

How long will it take me to complete the program?

We can help you realize your dream of working with animals within four months.

The program will remain available to all students for 12 months, no matter when they finish the program.

Is a Veterinary Assistant the same as a Veterinary Technician?

Veterinary Assistants are an essential part of the veterinary medical team. Working with veterinarian technicians, they help care for animals. This program can help you enter the field or advance your career if you already work as a veterinary assistant.

Veterinary technicians have either a two-year or four-year college degree. They must pass a credentialing examination and keep current with continuing education to be considered licensed, registered, or certified (the term varies by state) veterinary technicians.

Where can I work as a veterinary receptionist or veterinary assistant?

You can work in veterinary hospitals, animal rescue, animal control, doggie daycare, pet boarding facilities, or pet sitting.

What are the aptitudes, qualities, and physical demands needed to be a successful VA?

Functional abilities of Veterinary Assistants include:

  • The ability to stand for long periods of time
  • The ability to reach, bend, climb, and crouch without difficulty
  • The ability to lift and carry 40 pounds without assistance
  • The ability to see and hear sufficiently to make observations about animals
  • The ability to communicate effectively in English with both clinic employees and clients
  • To possess sufficient arm and hand steadiness and finger dexterity to operate equipment, restrain, and work with animals.

Can you help me get a job when I am done?

We do not offer job placements. We would be happy to reach out to the employer and ensure they are aware you are a graduate of an IGNITE program.

Is this all online or some written/in person?

Our programs are 100% online, all coursework is completed through IGNITE’s easy-to-use platform.
